Discovery Island Marine Provincial Park This park is located two nautical miles east of Victoria and access is by kayak or canoe only. Unpredictable weather and strong currents are a concern. The nearest boat launch is located at Cattle Point in Oak Bay. There is no safe anchorage in the park area. There is one camping area in an open field. While the park is open all year, services are only available from May 1st to September 30th. There is no water available.

Newcastle Island Provincial Park Walk-in camping is allowed at 18 designated sites in the park. These sites are located in the forest, approximately a 5-minute walk from the dock. A fee for service is collected from March to October. There are also five group campsites, located within a 5-minute walk from the dock and open all year, when accessible. Reservations are accepted for the group sites, but not the walk-in sites.

Smelt Bay Provincial Park Smelt Bay Provincial Park is the only provincial campground on Cortes Island. 23 large sites set in the woods overlook Smelt Bay. A day-use and picnicking area is next to the beach. Pit toilets are located in the day-use area and campground. The beach offers opportunities for swimming, kayaking and fishing. Directions Smelt Bay is located 15 km (9 mi) south of the Whaletown Ferry Terminal on Sutil Point Rd.
